Wind Sculpture Wind Chime
Move over backyard fountains, whirligigs and wind chimes- here comes the wind sculpture. The wind sculpture seems to have evolved from the humble weathervane that helped warn farmers of foul weather. Now, in many public parks you'll find these artistic creations that work in harmony with the element of the wind.
Like a wind chime, a wind sculpture isn't restricted to the outdoors. Small spinners look great near a sliding door or window, anywhere that the wind can capture it and bring it alive. Many are made of copper and other non-rusting metals, with intricate glass bead accents. A wind sculpture can perform a mesmerizing ballet right before your eyes. Some spin in the wind, while others twirl and twist. It depends on the design- watch a wind sculpture in action before you take it home or give it away.
Artists are always thinking of new ways to use the wind in art. One wind sculpture could be a willow tree that affixes to the side of a house or gazebo, with the leaves of the tree part of the moving part of the sculpture. A large wind sculpture can also have a water feature, spraying and turning in the breeze. Like the many styles and sizes of the wind chime, a wind sculpture can be as wild as the artist's dreams.
