Glass Wind Chime
A glass wind chime can catch the light, the wind and most of all- your eye! Although you would normally think of these "musical mobiles" as hanging from tree branches or hooks outside the home, the glass wind chime is perfect for hanging indoors. Just like a sun catcher, the colorful glass wind chime looks great on a stand in the windowsill or hanging in the kitchen window, ready to catch the morning sunlight.
Many artists, who love to work with glass, will often try their hand at making a glass wind chime. Some end up creating unique works of art that make wonderful wedding, anniversary and mother's day gifts. Actually there aren't many occasions that wouldn't merit a graceful glass wind chime.
One artist uses scraps of stained glass to create beautiful chimes, with the glass wind chime hanging daintily from a piece of natural drift wood. Another area to find materials is recycled glass bottles. Cutting bottles with a glass cutter and using a kiln created the soft, circular shapes of one designer's unique creation.
A glass wind chime can blend various elements. A glass blown ornament can be the attractive top of copper tubed chimes. A stained glass design butterfly can have a cascade of fused glass chimes below it- which just proves that a glass wind chime captures the light and the imagination.
